Lasorsa Vito Alessandro
Dr. Vito Alessandro Lasorsa is a computational biologist with a strong interest in cancer genetics and genomics.
He earned his Master's degree and second level Master's degree at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” focusing on functional genomics and high-performance scientific computing.
Subsequently, in 2014, he joined CEINGE – Biotecnologie Avanzate Franco Salvatore in Napoli, working in the research group of Professor Mario Capasso.
Here, he immediately began researching neuroblastoma genomics and earned his PhD in Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology at the University of Napoli “Federico II”. His researches on the role of non-coding somatic variants in neuroblastoma have been published in authoritative scientific journals. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications.
Dr. Lasorsa currently oversees and manages computational analyses of the Bioinformatics Service for NGS at CEINGE, working on research projects that leverage genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics data. In 2023, he developed a completely open-source system for interpreting genetic variants as an integral part of the institute's molecular diagnostics activities.
